I still remember, how I started storing my personal data files, on floppy disc, then CD, then DVD and then in USB drive. As data size increased the role of hard drive which can save data more than GBs in TBs came in picture. But all these data storage devices became inconvenient when I had more than one smart, connected to the internet devices that I started using vehemently for personal and professional; need for digital data storage became inevitable as carrying and maintaining all these physical storage devices was cumbersome. Though mobile phone device solved this problem to some extent as an integrated device, but due to limited storage capacity this option is also remained temporary solution. Thanks to rapidly developing technology innovations and entry of cloud storage platforms such as Google Drive where we can save all our data, be it videos, images, other files etc. and can access them over the internet anytime anywhere without saving it on local drives. Honestly, cloud data storage innovation option proved to be more convenient in today’s digital life for millennials.

In the same context, the data storage technology for organizations have evolved from local inhouse data centre to outsourcing of complete data centre infra to different vendors who are specialized in the setting up and maintaining the data centre infra such as servers, storages and other related security devices as required. Most of the organizations have now realized that outsourcing the IT infra management leaves them a lot of bandwidth to focus on their core business operations as they grow. This approach has saved huge costs and taken away the pain of maintaining & upgrading the same. Though cloud technology was known by industries since more than decade but the adoption of the cloud services for hosting IT infra became renowned recently and proved one the better option for organization to host servers, applications, platforms as per requirement of small startup to big organizations operating over several years. The biggest advantage which cloud hosting technology envisaged is organizations started accomplishing flexibility as per their business requirement and scalability as their operations expands with industry growth. Many organizations, both big and small, could primarily focus on their core business operations and achieve their future growth plans without minding on the IT infra hosting requirement to run the business. Organizations could save on capital and operating costs both and achieved economies of scale within the competitive environment very soon.

As cloud hosting became regular practice for organizations the more faces of it opened like Private, Public and Hybrid cloud which can cater the changing needs adhering to security concerns identified. Cloud Hosting has proved to be a steppingstone in the transition of the Information Technology market and digital India in 2018. Cloud Hosting has progressively transformed India with the rapid growth of IT industry and organizations allocating shares from their revenues for cloud innovations.  Though cloud hosting was highly accepted in India data security and cost has always been a significant concern with the use of public and private cloud respectively. A survey report of 2018 indicates that 43% of Indian organizations will adopt the Hybrid cloud by 2020 with 50% of Indian enterprises using Hybrid clouds across Industries. According to the study done by the experts, India is all set to lead the world regarding Hybrid Cloud usage over the next two years. The increasing use of Hybrid clouds is likely to boost the Indian economy as its adoption benefits the organizations thus, becoming more flexible and straightforward with enhanced data security.  Since, the private clouds are not meeting the desired goals its use is expected to drop in the coming years thus, resulting in rapid adoption of Hybrid Cloud in India. Scalability, Flexibility, Cost, Security and Improved connectivity are the showstoppers why Indian organizations are moving towards Hybrid Cloud usage. A Hybrid environment is suitable for dynamic workloads thus, enabling quick scaling to meet the expectations. Also, scaling back when not in demand helps to keep the cost under control. A survey says when a business runs its application on Public Cloud it spends $1.7billion but, when the application runs on a hybrid Cloud, it spends $1.1 billion. The Hybrid Cloud flexibility has security benefits; allowing the transfer of non-sensitive data to the public space of the organizations thus, reducing the demands on their internal private space. Thus, Hybrid Cloud adoption enables the IT teams to make efficient use of ‘Platform-as-a-service’ (PaaS) where developing, testing and launching of applications is carried out quickly, efficiently and securely. Hybrid Cloud Platform guarantees bandwidth between on-premise and cloud locations thus improving performance, by reducing distance-based latency.

Since Hybrid Cloud offers a combination of Public and Private Cloud services enterprises are finding it easy and beneficial to use. To the organizations in India hybrid Cloud is a change agent rather than just an enabler. The Pay-as-you-go service enables the Indian organizations to meet the dynamically changing and ever-growing business demands.  This surely is the main reason for a drastic shift of industries from Private or Public cloud platform to Hybrid Cloud environment. The willingness of Indian organizations to adopt Hybrid Cloud services shows that they are all set to make efficient use of Public cloud services in extension to Private Cloud network thus, enabling smooth moving of workloads between Private and Public space. Very soon India will be the leading nation in terms of Hybrid Cloud adoption.
