Business Context

In 2018, UGRO Capital, a new-age NBFI was looking for a completely digital, paperless solution driven by digital data and analytics to lend to SMBs digitally. The existing business processes were largely paper-based and time consuming resulting in significant time-to-lend and loss of revenue for cash-starved SMBs. Using the latest digital tech stack and informed by deep data analytics, UGRO aimed to revolutionize the lending space for SMBs by providing in-principal approval in a matter of minutes instead of hours.

Solution

Decimal implemented a fully digital, paperless, end-to-end lending platform managing the entire lifecycle of a credit application, starting from data entry and authentication, to pre-approval, post-facto document verification and built-in credit and risk assessment. The key challenge lay in digitizing entrenched business processes which were mostly managed manually and required business process re-engineering to leverage the full capabilities of a digital tech stack. One key innovation was to conduct credit assessment using daily business parameters such as customer footfalls, inventory turnover etc. using a proprietary credit scoring engine.
